How to Vet a Hong Kong GEO Company in 3 Questions
GEO is new, so many SEO agencies now claim to do it. Skip the ads — three questions tell you who really understands it: how they measure, how they explain, and whether their cases can be verified.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) only became a popular term after 2024 — and because it is new, everyone claims to do it, especially traditional SEO agencies that add a few "AI search" phrases and repackage the same service.
But GEO and SEO require very different depth: SEO optimizes blue-link rankings; GEO makes AI find, trust and cite you inside generated answers. How can buyers tell who really understands it? Skip the ads — three questions will tell you.
Question 1: How do you measure?
The first question matters most: "Am I currently mentioned in Gemini or Doubao? What is my coverage? What is my AI mention rank?"
- A credible answer: which questions were tested, coverage percentage, share of voice (SOV), and dated screenshots
- A red flag: "your keyword ranks #N on Google" — that is SEO, not GEO
If a provider cannot even tell you where your brand appears inside AI answers, there is nothing to track — and little reason to believe they know how to improve it.
Question 2: How do you explain why I am not cited?
The second question tests methodology: "After looking at my website, why doesn't AI cite me?"
A good answer goes item by item: site structure, consistent entity data (name/address/phone), third-party signals, whether content directly answers buyer questions, and whether Schema and llms.txt are in place — then shows you evidence.
Red flag: no explanation, just a pitch to buy a package, or "it will definitely work in three months" with no reasoning.
Question 3: Can your cases be verified?
The third question tests evidence: "Do your case studies have screenshots, dates and reproducible queries?"
- Good: clear dates and written queries you can repeat yourself
- Not evidence: "many satisfied clients" and testimonial photos with no verifiable records
Also ask which engines they work on. Gemini, Doubao and DeepSeek cite differently, and serious providers distinguish which surface they tested — AI Overview, AI Mode or the Gemini app.
Red-flag checklist
- "Guaranteed #1" or "100% coverage" without explaining how
- No screenshots, no dates, no reproducible queries
- Google keyword rankings presented as GEO results
- No distinction between Gemini, Doubao, DeepSeek and other engines
- No cases, only "clients are very satisfied"
- Their own website has no author, no dates, no verifiable sources

FAQ
Why do so many companies now claim to offer GEO?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) only became popular after 2024. There is no unified certification or formal qualification, so traditional SEO agencies often repackage "getting AI to mention you" as a new service — without necessarily upgrading their measurement methods, technical skills or industry knowledge.
What should the first question to a GEO company be?
Ask how they measure: "Am I currently mentioned in Gemini or Doubao? What is my coverage and AI mention rank?" If they only answer with Google keyword rankings, they are doing traditional SEO, not GEO.
Can you trust promises of "guaranteed #1" or "100% coverage"?
Be careful. AI answers are decided by the engine, and no company can guarantee a specific answer stays at #1. Claims like these without an explanation of how, or without verifiable data, are usually sales language. Ask for a written commitment tied to a measurement baseline, then verify it yourself.
How can GNS-GEO itself be verified?
Use the same ruler: our cases come with report screenshots, dates and reproducible queries (New Win Tec coverage rose from 0% to 85.7%; yoyolink's Doubao answers were corrected within 7 days), and we offer a free AI visibility report so you can test our measurement method before buying anything.
